Accountant Thinking

Its been a while since I had something to rant about!

Company accountants, what is it with these people, they think in a totally different way to the rest of the worlds population!!
when an accountant thinks , all logic and common sense is stripped away and they are left with one descision, "will I have to pay money out now".

let me give you an example

we lease computers from a leasing company, each computer is covered by a policy which covers being stolen and accidental damage etc, the policy has a $250 excess (you pay the first $250) so if a laptop is damaged (which happens quite a bit around here) we pay $250 and get a new laptop complete with all the software.

And now the accountant thinking is as follows

"the company had a group insurance policy, so we don't need to pay for the policy provided by the lease company, then company policy has $2500 excess, we like a high excess because nobody claims off it and our renewal cost is lower."

the problem there is, we don't have any laptops that cost that much, so its not cost effective to claim if they are damaged.

SO NO WONDER THE RENEWAL OF THE INSURANCE IS LOW, NOBODY CAN CLAIM OFF IT!!!!!!

so if someone drops a laptop, we have to continue to pay the lease and puchase a new laptop and the buy the software, so instead of a $250 outlay we have cost of the new laptop and the software AND we are still paying for the lease, all this for saving $25 a quarter!!

Is it me or am I missing something here, Accountants please contact me explain!!

Milestones

Well its finally time for me to admit to myself that i am actually (and have been for quite some time) a grownup!

Much as I hate to admit it I am actually 40!

People keep asking me " whats It feel like to be 40?" and I have to say that it's actually the first birthday that has a feeling attached to it.
so when people ask me now "whats it like to be 40?" i reply "creaky!"

the other thing about being 40 is that you finally fall off the fashion bandwaggon and stay stuck in the best year of your life, so from now on I will only be fashionable once every 10 years or so!

SO HERE LADIES AND GENTS, SPORTING THE 1989 LOOK!!!!!!

the only problem with being 40 is that you are still a little bit too young to be weird,unless you have great wodges of cash, but then i suppose you would be classed as excentric!!

Valentines Day email!

It has been quite some time since I put pen to paper and actually blogged, I guess that the more you blog the greater the chance that someone will actually read it!
So i'm probably typing to myself!!

anyway its Valentine Day, and my day started much the same as any other day, overslept and got into work a little bit late!

But the big difference today is that the company I work for decided to do a Valentines Promotion by email that was set to email out at midnight, so that (in the words of the MD) in the morning all our customers would have a valentines gift in their inbox.

Nice idea!!......NOT!!!!

the mail shot got stuck in a loop and mailed out the message (a large image file) a couple of hundred times to every one on the top half of the list!!!!

so the "Valentines Day Gift" to all our customers is JAMMED UP EMAIL SYSTEMS FOR THE DAY!!!!!!!
